Hi, I'm Rain.

I'm so glad you're here, exploring the possibility of working together. I offer sessions in person in Nashville and online across Tennessee.

Most people reach out to me during a season of relational reckoning—longing to break free from reflexive ways of relating to themselves, their lives, and the people closest to them.

I most often work with people who:

  • have done therapy before and want to go deeper.

  • are creatives, social entrepreneurs, healers, and/or leaders carrying a vision—and the weight of responsibility that comes with it.

  • are questioning an identity, relationship, career, or version of themselves that no longer fits.

  • have achieved important personal and professional goals, but still feel something unresolved underneath it all.

  • are curious about how their wounds and vocation influence one another.

  • are ready to understand not just what happened, but how it lives in their bodies and relationships.

My passion is supporting change-makers, cycle-breakers, and creatives as they heal from the lingering imprints of trauma, grow beyond patterns of self-negation, and welcome more of who they are with compassion and curiosity.

I consider this work a practice of Revolutionary Love — sustained, gentle movement towards open-hearted acceptance of your inner world of feeling and sensation so that you can move forward with greater awareness, aliveness, and freedom throughout your life and relationships.

My Approa

Approach

So much of what happens in therapy happens in the realms beyond words. Neuroscience affirms this. As do the ancient wisdom traditions. All we have to do is turn our attention to the subtle communication--between bee and bloom, stone and stream, or parent and child—to know that it is an exquisitely nuanced endeavor.

Living in a culture that runs counter to sensitivity and aliveness, I’ve found a slow embodied approach is the surest way to develop a relationship with yourself that is connected, compassionate and resilient. I believe we each possess a cellular knowing that can serve as a trustworthy guide in life. Respect for our inner authority offers both mercy and protection as we navigate life’s challenges.

The work invites us to spend time in a place beyond what is already known. Sometimes, it’s a place beyond language, where together, we can attune to what is alive in the room. It is here, in the direct experience of the present moment that new discoveries are made and blocks might be revealed.

Some of our greatest gifts and challenges live close to the bone. They’re protected by strategies that once served us well, but may now be inhibiting the self-expression and sense of wholeness that supports healthy connection with ourselves and the people we love. Part of my role in the work is to invite curiosity and create new experiences for you. This allows alternative ways of knowing and perceiving to emerge and can deepen your relationship with your feelings and the sensations that enliven them.

This approach can counter the relational imprint of chronic shame—a common symptom of early abuse or neglect. In moving slowly and refusing to force premature resolutions, we begin to cultivate greater kindness and understanding towards ourselves. What was once obscured becomes more visible, allowing for greater freedom and choice. Solutions to the problems of our lives are the natural outcome of this process but not necessarily its primary driver.

Of course, these problems are deeply personal, born of you, your body and your history, but they also exist within a larger cultural context. My commitment to social justice means that I listen in a way that attends to both. I have learned firsthand that placing traumas within a larger socio-cultural context challenges shame and isolation and restores a felt sense of power and belonging.

This reclamation of the fullness of our experience invites increasing sensitivity to our needs and the needs of those around us. We move beyond the polarity of independence and codependence. Instead, we enter the more powerful realms of interdependence and true connection. Deepening care for ourselves and others and expanding appreciation for the beauty of life are just some of the gifts of this work.
